Tributyrin is a neutral short-chain fatty acid triglyceride, which is a stable and
rapidly absorbed butyric acid precursor. Butyrate is the primary molecule in SCFAs
who drives the gut function. The tributyrin entering the intestine is hydrolyzed into
glycerol monoester and butyric acids under the action of pancreatic lipase, and the
butyric acid is rapidly absorbed by the small intestine and enters the blood circulation. Butyric acid can provide energy for mucosal cells, promote the rapid proliferation and
