What is MBBR Media?
MBBR Media is a specially designed carrier used in Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) systems. It is typically made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), offering excellent biofilm adhesion properties and resistance to corrosion. The media commonly features hollow cylindrical or star-shaped structures with a high specific surface area (over 500 m²/m³), providing abundant space for microbial growth.

In an MBBR system, the media is kept in motion through aeration or water flow, allowing the biofilm attached to its surface to fully contact the organic pollutants and ammonia in the wastewater. This enables efficient degradation of organic matter and nitrogen conversion.
